How I deep clean The Sims 3
Thanks for stopping by again!
I thought it'd be fun to share a post about the how I fix bugs in Sims3, I am no expert at fixing games, this is just the experience that I gained by playing it for the past 10 years, thus it might not be the case for all people → Yes! I'd said I spent more time on fixing than playing
Although it is such a fun game, but this is one of the most laggy PC game that I've played, even without custom content, this is the most ridiculous part. I have seen lots of Sims3 players who really are expertise at building fancy houses and sims, but I seriously doubt if the game is still playable after installed crazy amount of Mods/CC? Of course, if it's just to enter build mode or CAS that'd probably not be an issue. I never experienced anything bad while in CAS or build mode.
From what I've observed, problems are most likely to be:
1.glitches
2.unsavable games/saving takes forever
3.game automatically shut down all of the sudden
4.lag too much
5. Anything else?
Most symptoms appear right away, or you'll find out sooner or later. In my case, most of them come from some sort of corrupted Mods or packages. It can be that the laptop is too outdated, but Sims3 already is an easily malfunctioned game, even if all the Mods and CC are removed, same problems can still exist.
Below is what I find the most useful way to resolve the problem, simply if you cannot locate the corrupted .package or .sims3pack file (Especially for sims3pack, once it's installed it's better to deep clean the game because the corrupted part are now part of the DCCache even if it's uninstalled).
If there's a corrupted file 90% of the time the game won't be fixed if you only clear out Cache files or files in DCBackup. Before doing the deep cleaning, make sure to backup ALL files, you'll have to enter the game, clear all stuff in family inventory and personal ones. Then move out your sims, backup both the sims and the house (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!)
It's essential to follow all the steps while you deep clean. After backing up the sims and the house, quit the game, go to C:\Users\JaneDoe\Documents\Electronic Arts There should be a Sims 3 folder, that basically is where you keep your Mods, Saved Sim, Screenshots etc..
Next, drag the sims3 folder to Desktop(this would be the backing up step). Now run the sims3 launcher again and stay on the launcher page ONLY!! Do not go beyond the launcher!!!
Once all steps above are done, there will be a new generated Sims3 file in the Electronic Arts file you just opened. When you run the launcher you'll notice that all CCs that you installed are gone ➜➜ Don't worry, you have backup TheSims3 folder already, if you didn't delete the Sims3pack in the Downloads folder, everything will be there. If you have no CC/Mods installed, everything should be fine.
🔏Now, it's time to do the deep clean🔏
Now that everything is back to the very beginning, you may start checking, reinstall CC and Mods.
Tools that I use along with cleaning the bad .packages are
Delphy's Sims3 Dashboard Tool Download: 𝅘𝅥𝅮𝅘𝅥𝅘𝅥𝅮
Package Viewer by Kuree Download: 𝅘𝅥𝅰𝅘𝅥𝅰𝅘𝅥
They are both necessary to me when I clean shit out of the game, the Package Viewer can detect files from Sims4 (it's my favorite part!!!), and the Dashboard can detect corrupted/conflicted/Sims2 files.
For sims3pack, I haven't found one that's proper enough, but I heard CC Magic it good for viewing the .sims3pack ~I'm too lazy to get deeper into that~
I suggest reinstall the CC one by one or by small chunk, and run the game check if it works every once in the while, apply the same for .packages too.
After everything is done, you may put backup files back into
C:\Users\JaneDoe\Documents\Electronic Arts\TheSims3
<Caution: put the files from the Backup TheSims3 to the new generated one>
⃤⃤⃤⃤----------------------
Saves
SavedSim
Library
DCBackup ➣If you have an updated "ccmerged.package"😊

You may now enjoy the clean version of Sims3 :)
It'll be a lot of hideous work but once it's done you get to have fun, I do deep clean once every 2 weeks, and I suggest everyone to do so as well.
If you'd like to prevent the game from lagging a bit just turn off the memory for sims, it'll save your day
🔔Reminder🔔
Again, this is how I fix my game bug, might not work for all people, Sims3 is very tricky, it's never the same once the game is installed so be aware when you apply every step that I mentioned. Please backup ALL files, including those that are in the game, separately!! I'm not responsible for any loss that you caused.
Cheers
