The death of 木村 花(Kimura Hana)
After seeing the news about the death of Kimura Hana, I haven't been in a good mood for a long while. Not only in Japan, cyberbullying happens everywhere, especially the kind of bullying towards celebrities are even more common, there are already a few cases that are similar to this one occurred in the past few years in Korea and Taiwan. We never get to stop the tragedy from happening.
I have never heard of Hana before her death, nor have I seen her in any of the franchise that she took part in. But what had happened to her is very controversial, after the incident I still see many people defending the second the third the fourth party in related to her death. Some are positive while others are negative, to get to know how the whole thing went down I went to see the reality show "Terrace House", the episodes that she took part in. In Episode 38, Hana throw a bit of the temper tantrum to Kai, one of the roommate that she has inexplicit relationship with in front of several other housemates. These are all part of the show, scripted or unscripted, what actually happened remains unknown. Whatever we see is what is presented on the screen. Unfortunately, people began to harass Hana, she would receive a tremendous amounts of messages that harmed her deliberately, to the point that is affecting Hana on a profound level.
Hana committed suicide on May 23rd, 2020.
Sad to say, not all people acknowledge what's important and what isn't after her death. It was never about the shrunk wrestling clothes or the relationship with Kai. Sure, people can express how much they loath her behavior in the show. But it is a "show" after all, there are other aspects of the show that we did not witness. There is absolutely no need to argue against what actor/actresses did wrong in the show because it is unnecessary. Nobody wonders why Glee wasn't cancelled after Cory Monteith's death but it was for Hana? If it was really an unscripted show, isn't it possible that there will be no chemicals between anybody(I never bothered to talk to my housemates at all!)? They can say Hana's death is her own choice, she's too sensitive.. since when the society start criticizing the victims? Why would someone deserve being bullied for things that she does on the television show?
The society nowadays is too harsh on women, they are expected to act, talk, look, behave a certain way. There are different kinds of women existed, women who are tough, straight-forward, maybe a little bit childish or have bad temper. But so what? there's nothing wrong to be inexperienced and young, and it's definitely not wrong to be who they are.
